Q. Will I be able to use the Power of Attorney immediately?
A.For a Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney, you will have to wait for the Office of the Public Guardian to register the document, which will take approximately 6 weeks. For a Personal Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney, the document cannot be registered until the Donor lacks mental capacity.
Q. How much will it cost to make a Lasting Power of Attorney?

Q. Can I apply for a remission of fees?
A.It is possible on proof of income to receive a remission or exemption of the registration fees. However there is no remission or exemption of our legal costs.
Q. What happens if the Donor dies?
A.The office of Public Guardian will need to be notified and the Lasting Power of Attorney is void.
Q. Can anyone look at my Lasting Power of Attorney?
A.There is a register of Lasting Powers of Attorney. Access may be granted for a fee and is dependent on why access is required.
